The project Platform for Transport Management Services (P4TMS) was developed with the objective of tracking and managing transport units such as containers and trailers. Since most of the transport units don't have electric power, it was required to develop a positioning module and a information system that would fulfill this challenge. The positioning module was developed by the research group GIEST and the information system was responsibility of GIATSI.
The information system is based in a service oriented architecture (SOA), with a service bus designated as Transport Management Services Bus. Among the features provided by this bus, we can find the management and monitoring of positioning modules and management of transport plans.
This project included the development of a proof of concept used for tracking trailers in Iberian Peninsula and tracking the President of Portugal during the fourth Journey of the Science Route.
